Lots of Tricks....a Few Treats

Hayden and her knight in shining armor Caleb Lawrence
Cousins: Keaton, Lola, and Nash with Hayden
11 months - Oct 31, 2010
Hayden's first Halloween and night of trick o' treaters didn't get off to a great start.  After being woke from a nap, she wasn't quite ready for all the night's festivities.  Grandma and Grandpa Reimer came up for dinner and enjoyed watching the little people in their Halloween best come to the door to claim their treats. Grandpa really loved entertaining and playing with Hayden, and was hoping to see more kids enter through our doors. Hayden loved to see all the kids, and didn't seem alarmed at their attire.  The Schroeders, Dempsters, Kregels, Berns, Brandts, Reimers, and Lawrence Families all were able to stop by for some treats and  a visit.  Hayden really had fun playing with Cora and Colton.  At 9pm she had enough and called it a night after a full day of fun.

Baby Steps....

Hayden is officially walking and on the move.  She has been taking baby steps from here to there, but in the last week she has really found her legs and is taking more and more steps on her own without any help. As the video shows her steps, Hayden is also an animated little girl with so much to say.  And we know this is just the beginning......

The Hangout

Hayden has a couple favorite places to hang out around the house, but her favorite place to spend time is in the kitchen jammin to her Leap Frog radio magnet.  She loves moving to the song Annie, Annie Ooo and Birdie Bye Bye.  Also, she loves the dancing dots and pushing the music button to hear her favorite songs on the radio.

The Elephant Wins

Hayden played dress up for mommy tonight to help make the decision of what she will be for her momentous first Halloween.  We had two costumes to choose from.  A cupcake or an elephant.  Both mommy and daddy decided the elephant wins out.  However, the cupcake has some potential and may make the cut for next year's Halloween festivities, as there is still some room for our little girl to grow.  So look out Garnavillo...there's an elephant on the loose.

Our little monkey....

Hayden has loved spending time in her jungle.  She definitely belongs where the wild things are....

A girls' weekend...

Well Hayden Elizabeth gives me plenty to write about.  This weekend had a theme of "horrible H's."  Hawkeyes, hives and unhappy Hayden Elizabeth.  Daddy was away with the boys to cheer on the Hawkeyes against Wisconsin.   Hayden and mommy were perfectly content to have a "peaceful" weekend together in the Villo.  Grandma Kathy came up on Saturday to spend the morning with Hayden while mommy ran some errands.  All was well on Saturday until about 5pm.  The Hawkeyes lost and nobody was happy.  Daddy took it pretty hard,  just like the rest of us.  Then Sunday morning rolled around and Hayden woke up with HIVES all over her little body.  Mommy freaked!  The doctor and nurses believed it was attributed to her antibiotic she was on...Augmentin.  So after some Benedryl and a change of medicine we hope we are on the mend.  There is never a dull moment being parents.

Clean bill of health....we hope.

Hopefully the thermometer doesn't lie.  Hayden is on her second round of antibiotics getting over her second ear infection in 2 weeks!  Ugh....its been an uphill battle for mommy and daddy because if Hayden is not happy, nobody's happy.  =)

Aunt MissLissa

Auntie Melissa came to watch Hayden so Andy and I could go out on a date.  It had been a while since Hayden had seen Miss, but they picked up right where they left off.  It didn't take long at all for Hayden to feel right at home with her Aunt.  They had a great time together and mommy and daddy enjoyed a night out.  Thanks Aunt Missy for the quality time.  She really loved it.

Free Baby Sitter

Mom and Dad discovered little Miss Hayden LOVES Baby Einstein's Baby Beethoven's Symphony of Fun.  She is fully engaged and will sit mesmerized and entertained for as long as needed while mom or dad get a few things done!  She especially LOVES the skit during the Symphony with the puppy and his bone. Speaking of which...she's still watching right now, while I finish my entry!  Thanks Baby Einstein!

Busy body

One thing we have always known about Hayden Elizabeth is she is very vocal.  Tonight after dinner, Hayden was on one of her explorations and found herself in her reflection at the stove.  This video is a little taste of the show she put on for Mom, Dad and Finn.  She is full of it!

Fall Fun

This weekend was an out of the ordinary fall weekend.  Yesterday was 85 degrees and today was 81 degrees.  Grandma Vicki and Papa Mike came up to visit.  We spent some time going to McGregor for Fall Days and then to Papa Mike's favorite store...Cabela's =)

Today, Andy, Hayden and I decided to go on a pumpkin run.  We went to the Berns' house down the street to get some snaps of the "great pumpkins" with Hayden.  She wasn't too sure what to think at first, but then warmed up to the camera.  Janice always makes her smile.

Also we headed out to Grandma and Grandpa Reimer's house to take some fall snapshots.  Daddy did a great job with the camera.

Inspired...

Hayden Elizabeth - 10 days old
My best friend Mindi has been blogging on her family for 5 months. She has inspired me to be a better mom and document the many memories of our daughter Hayden Elizabeth. I'm going to give it a shot and hopefully create something memorable with time we all will enjoy in the many years to come.  Here is a link to my blog-of-inspiration www.heitlandfamilynews.blogspot.com
Thanks Mindo!
